The objective was to create a naturally caffeine-free infusion combining Plantain and Echinacea with complementary herbal ingredients that deliver both therapeutic functionality and a pleasant sensory experience.
Rather than developing a conventional herbal infusion, the project focused on creating a standardized botanical blend with consistent flavour, aroma, extraction efficiency, and phytochemical stability. Adhrysa Lifescience managed the complete product development cycle—from herbal ingredient authentication, phytochemical compatibility studies, blend optimization, infusion performance evaluation, packaging selection, stability testing, and pilot-scale manufacturing to commercial production readiness. The result was a premium wellness tea designed for modern consumers seeking natural immunity support in a convenient daily beverage.
The Challenge
Developing a functional herbal tea containing multiple botanicals required overcoming significant formulation and processing challenges. Every medicinal herb possesses unique moisture characteristics, particle size, extraction behaviour, volatile compounds, and active phytochemicals, making it essential to achieve uniform blending without compromising efficacy or sensory quality.
Maintaining the stability of delicate bioactive compounds throughout processing, storage, and brewing required extensive optimization of drying conditions, particle size distribution, blending ratios, and packaging protection against moisture, oxygen, and light exposure.
Another major challenge involved balancing the naturally earthy and slightly bitter characteristics of medicinal herbs while producing a smooth, pleasant infusion suitable for regular consumption. Multiple laboratory infusion trials were conducted to optimize brewing performance, colour development, flavour profile, aroma intensity, and consistency across every production batch while ensuring scalability for commercial manufacturing.
